Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to read and write English

  • previous experience in food services, housekeeping, or maintenance preferred
  • knowledge of cleaning equipment and supplies

  • good physical condition to perform manual tasks
  • basic knowledge of safety and sanitation practices

Job Duties

  • Sets up assigned station with appropriate items before meal service
  • assembles prepared food on trays for patients according to menu cards or special diet lists
  • delivers trays to patients and collects or returns soiled trays to kitchen
  • assists in cooking operations and prepares patients' between-meal nourishment and cold foods
  • serves foods at proper temperatures using appropriate kitchen equipment
  • cleans kitchen and dining areas
  • washes, sanitizes, and sterilizes dishes, utensils, and equipment
  • collects, transports, and disposes of garbage and trash
  • obtains stock from refrigerators and storerooms
  • loads and unloads stock and supplies
  • cleans, maintains, and sterilizes assigned areas
  • empties wastebaskets
  • sweeps, dusts, vacuums, and washes floors, walls, and furniture
  • cleans mirrors and disinfects toilets, sinks, and tubs
  • collects and disposes of cups and waste
  • polishes metal
  • maintains floors by stripping, waxing, and polishing
  • moves furniture and equipment
  • maintains tools and equipment
  • maintains grounds by cutting lawns and shrubs and cleaning walkways
  • assists with snow removal and debris clearance
  • assists in loading, unloading, and storing supplies and equipment
  • fills and distributes requisitioned materials and supplies
