- knowledge of automotive service principles
- strong customer service skills
- excellent communication and organizational skills
Job Duties
- Schedules service appointments
- obtains customer and vehicle data prior to arrival
- greets customers in a timely, friendly manner
- writes up customer's vehicle problems accurately on repair order
- test drives the vehicle with customer as needed
- refers to service history and recommends additional service
- advises customers on vehicle care and maintenance
- provides written cost estimates for labor and parts
- establishes promised service time
- obtains customer's signature and provides copy of repair order
- establishes method of payment and obtains credit approval if necessary
- notifies dispatcher of incoming work
- checks progress of repair and communicates any changes
- implements service marketing program
- reviews and closes repair orders
- ensures vehicles are parked and secured
- updates service forms, menus, and pricing guides
- explains completed work and charges to customers
- maintains quality control process
- handles telephone inquiries
- inspects vehicles for body work and provides estimates
- supervises cleaning and prepping of vehicles
- maintains professional appearance and clean work area
