Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • physical stamina to stand and walk for extended periods
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to provide compassionate and patient service to elderly residents
  • ability to follow health and safety regulations
  • willingness to work in a team setting

Job Qualifications

  • experience as a waiter or waitress in a restaurant or food-service-related industry
  • able to function in a fast-paced environment
  • strong ability to multi-task
  • good communication, customer service and people skills
  • professional, patient and able to satisfy a demanding customer base
  • experience working with a senior population preferred but not required
  • team player willing to help where needed
  • familiarity with food safety, food preparation and board of health guidelines a plus
  • able to adjust to different personality types and situations positively
  • reliable, caring and gentle in actions and demeanor
  • maintains abiding respect for the elderly and remains calm at all times

Job Duties

  • patiently and cheerfully taking resident meal orders
  • checking station tables for settings and cleanliness
  • reading the menu before service to assist residents with their selections
  • assisting in plating and proper portion control of appetizers, salads, soups, beverages and desserts
  • bussing tables at the end of the meal
  • ensuring meals are served and presented according to Director of Food Service guidelines
