Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in food service or hospitality preferred
  • ability to stand for long periods
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • ability to handle cash and POS systems
  • basic food safety knowledge
  • ability to follow instructions and work well under pressure
  • team player attitude

  • knowledge of specialized diets and allergens is a plus

Job Duties

  • Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room
  • take food and beverages in an efficient manner, following established steps of service
  • deliver food promptly and professionally
  • maintain safe food handling and sanitation standards
  • follow up periodically to assist with any additional needs or requests
  • demonstrate complete understanding of menu items and ingredients
  • advise guests on appropriate combinations of food and drinks when requested
  • accommodate reasonable requests and note preferences
  • demonstrate knowledge of specialized diets and allergens as needed
  • communicate directly with back-of-the-house staff to ensure orders are delivered correctly and special requests accommodated
  • exhibit exceptional communication skills and ability to get along well with others
  • remain flexible and patient when communicating with guests and staff
  • collect tickets and follow proper cash-handling procedures
  • promote a clean, safe and neat environment for guests
  • maintain a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information
  • promptly address complaints or issues and relay relevant information or complaints directly to supervisor
  • ensure that the dining room is properly set up prior to and after the service period
  • keep area clean and neat while meeting established sanitation standards
  • operate a variety of equipment including fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells and coffee machines
  • work with staff of other departments to perform job duties during special events and functions
  • perform other duties as assigned
