Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages according to state laws
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a high-end fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of spirits, wines, beers, and cocktails
  • Certification in alcohol awareness (Serv Safe, TIPs, etc.)
  • Food handling certificate preferred
  • Level 1 Sommelier certificate is a plus
  • Excellent communication and multitasking abilities
  • Attention to detail and safety
  • Patience and customer service orientation
  • Ability to stand and be mobile for at least 6 hours
  • Capable of occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds and frequently lifting 20 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • Certified in alcohol awareness such as Serv Safe or TIPs

Job Duties

  • Attend all required restaurant meetings and trainings
  • Maintain regular attendance per Groot Hospitality standards
  • Be available full-time with flexibility for variable schedules including evenings, holidays, and weekends
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and wear proper uniform
  • Follow food safety and sanitary guidelines issued by the Health Department
  • Complete assigned side-work within the allocated timeframe
  • Demonstrate superior knowledge of food and beverage menus
  • Know floor plans, table numbers, and stations thoroughly
  • Maximize productivity efforts and assist in problem-solving
  • Assist in training new employees as required
  • Greet tables within 2 minutes
  • Explain our dining concept and style to guests
  • Guide guests regarding food and beverage selections
  • Ensure pacing of courses meets standards for efficient turnover
  • Serve dishes to the correct persons without auctioning unless for shared plates, with sharing silverware ready
  • Clear, maintain, and reset tables promptly
  • Prepare final bills, present checks, accept payments, and process credit cards or make change
  • Assist in polishing and restocking
  • Collect payment from every table
  • Thank guests and use their names when possible when they leave
