Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must complete TIPS alcohol awareness certification as scheduled upon employment
- Must have or obtain a valid Food Handlers Card within 30 days of employment
- Ability to work varying schedules including holidays, weekends, and alternate shifts
- Must know all applicable health standards
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Prior experience in banquet or convention services preferred
- Ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines
- Ability to maintain a neat, clean, and organized work environment
- Ability to work well with others in a team setting
- Must adhere to company policies regarding alcohol service
- Must be punctual and reliable.
Job Qualifications
- Prior banquet or convention service experience at a comparable property desired
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service standards
- Strong guest relations and etiquette skills
- Ability to serve guest needs through verbal face-to-face interaction
- Positive attitude and professional demeanor
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to high level of guest satisfaction
- Ability to follow detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Proficient in English for oral and written communication
- Knowledge of health standards and laws related to serving alcohol
- TIPS certification or willingness to obtain
- Valid Food Handlers Card or willingness to obtain within 30 days.
Job Duties
- Serve customers at assigned station quickly, courteously, and efficiently
- Obtain food and beverage from prescribed locations and serve customers using appropriate service techniques
- Keep glasses filled throughout the meal
- Observe guests to fulfill additional requests and note when the meal is finished
- Assist other servers cooperatively to ensure efficient service
- Complete assigned side work as directed
- Set dining tables to established standards
- Remove dinnerware, glassware, flatware, and linens that do not meet cleanliness standards
- Complete pre, running, and post shift side work requirements
- Familiarize self with daily menus
- Set tables and room with linens and china considering the event prospectus
- Clean away service and accessories after events
- Clear dirty dishes from tables as guests finish courses
- Prepare coffee service with appropriate food and beverages per Banquet Event Order
- Follow standard food handling, TIPS, sanitation, and health guidelines
- Report to work on time and regularly
- Maintain a neat, clean, organized, safe, and comfortable environment
- Assist other servers in clearing, cleaning, and resetting tables
- May assist with setup or breakdown of function space
- Notify management of unsafe conditions, needed maintenance, and any accidents
- Ensure minors and intoxicated persons are not served alcoholic beverages
- Notify management of guest complaints or disruptive behavior.
