Job Requirements

  • must be 21+ years of age in order to serve alcoholic beverages
  • previous experience as a server in a restaurant or hospitality setting
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • knowledge of food and beverage menu items, including alcoholic beverages
  • ability to handle cash transactions and operate point-of-sale systems
  • strong customer service orientation
  • familiarity with local and state alcohol regulations
  • flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • have a thorough understanding of the food and beverage menu, including appetizers, entrees, desserts, and alcoholic beverages
  • provide recommendations and descriptions of menu items, including wine and cocktail pairings
  • take precise and accurate food and drink orders from customers
  • ensure all special requests and modifications are communicated to the kitchen and bar staff
  • understand basic cocktail preparation methods and garnishing techniques
  • verify the age of customers to ensure they are 21 or older before serving alcoholic beverages
  • understand and comply with local and state laws regarding the sale and service of alcoholic beverages
  • monitor customer alcohol consumption to prevent over-service
  • refuse service to customers who show signs of intoxication and handle such situations professionally
  • provide exceptional customer service, addressing inquiries, and ensuring customer satisfaction
  • check in with guests to ensure their needs are met and promptly address any concerns
  • recommend and upsell premium or specialty food and beverage items, including alcoholic beverages
  • promote daily specials and promotions to enhance the dining experience
  • work closely with kitchen and bar teams to coordinate the timing of food and beverage service
  • communicate any special requests or modifications to the kitchen and bar
  • handle cash and process credit card transactions accurately
  • provide change and receipts promptly
  • keep the dining and serving areas clean and well-organized
  • adhere to hygiene and sanitation guidelines, particularly in the handling of glassware and serving utensils
