Job Duties

  • assist in preparing the restaurant for dining service by setting up section including preparing items such as linens silverware and glassware
  • greet all guests in a warm personal friendly manner
  • review menus with guests and answer any questions about menu items offering descriptions and making recommendations
  • inform guests of any daily specials including pricing if not listed on the menu
  • explain how various menu items are prepared describing ingredients and cooking methods
  • take guests' food and beverage orders and enter orders into computer for transmittal to kitchen staff
  • check guests' identification to ensure they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcohol
  • serve food and beverages to guests taking extra care to perform any additional table-side preparation or service as required for items served
  • describe and recommend wines to guests bring selection to the table with appropriate glasses and pour the wine for the guests
  • check with the guests to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems
  • remove dishes and glasses from tables and take them to the kitchen for cleaning
  • prepare the table for the next guest
  • prepare certain hot and cold non-alcoholic beverages for guests
  • prepare and present guests' checks ensuring any special requests are followed such as split checks and collect corresponding payments
  • assist the entire service team throughout the meal period to ensure all guest's expectations are exceeded
  • stock service areas with supplies such as coffee iced tea tableware share plates silverware and linens
  • fill salt pepper sugar cream condiment napkins and drink garnishes
  • must be dependable report to work as scheduled and on time and follow all policies regarding scheduling and attendance
