Job Requirements
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- obtain Food Handlers Card as required
- wait staff experience preferred
- ability to count
- knowledge of facility fire plan, disaster plan and safety procedures
- ability to follow written and oral directions
- ability to interact tactfully with residents and family members, staff and general public
- basic office equipment skills including computer
- must be mobile and able to perform physical requirements of the job
- good physical health verified by health screening including chest x-ray or intradermal test within required timeframe
- current first aid training
- pass criminal record clearance
- at least 18 years of age
- demonstrate genuine concern for physical and emotional needs of older people
- maintain positive attitude
- demonstrate awareness and concern for resident safety
- compliance with property’s exposure control and blood borne pathogen standards
- compliance with safety and emergency procedures
- responsible for resolving and reporting hazardous conditions.

Job Duties
- Make resident satisfaction the number one priority
- serve meals to residents, family members and visitors in a professional, dignified, efficient and courteous manner
- assure compliance with all proper serving techniques and etiquette
- assist residents with menu selections as needed
- accurately and professionally take food and beverage orders
- verify food prepared matches items ordered on POS
- ensure food orders reflect special requests, including menu substitutions
- identify how various menu items are prepared, ingredients, and cooking methods
- ensure plates are presentable before serving
- serve food using trays and tray stands
- prepare to-go or delivery orders appropriately
- serve as liaison with kitchen and dining room staff to correct orders
- track residents’ attendance at meals
- deliver meals to resident rooms as required
- prepare dining room prior to each meal by cleaning and stocking
- check dining room stock and nourishments
- clean tables and chairs after meals and pick up floor areas
- bus tables and return dishes to the kitchen
- maintain clean and sanitary work environment at all times
- report equipment safety issues
- cooperate to get work done and be flexible with schedule
- assist in food inventory and washing dishes when needed
- assist in breaking down deliveries and putting away stock
- follow standards for time and attendance
- display tact and friendliness when dealing with residents, families and visitors
- provide support to marketing efforts through positive interaction during tours and telephone contact
- communicate any observed or suspected resident change of condition to supervisor immediately
- maintain a safe and secure environment
- encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions
- support positive and professional image through actions and dress
- perform other duties as assigned.
