Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum of 1 year experience in a server or customer service role
- ability to communicate clearly and professionally
- capacity to stand and walk for extended periods
- availability to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- basic math skills for handling payments
- familiarity with POS systems
- ability to handle guest complaints calmly and effectively

Job Duties
- Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission of the restaurant
- present menus to guests and answer questions about menu items, beverages, and other restaurant functions and services
- monitor and observe guests' dining experience to ensure satisfaction with food and service and respond promptly and courteously to correct any problems
- take food or beverages orders from guests
- explain to guests how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods
- inform guests of menu changes and daily specials and make recommendations you genuinely feel guests will enjoy
- write guests’ food orders on order slips, memorize orders, or enter orders into computers for transmission to kitchen staff
- garnish and decorate dishes in preparation for serving
- serve food or beverages to guests and prepare or serve specialty dishes at tables as required
- prepare hot, cold, and mixed drinks for guests, and chill bottles of wine
- describe and recommend wines to guests
- check guests’ identification to ensure compliance with minimum age requirements for alcoholic beverages
- bring wine selections to tables with appropriate glasses and pour wines for guests
- perform food preparation duties such as preparing salads, appetizers, and cold dishes, portioning desserts, and brewing coffee
- remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters and take them to the kitchen for cleaning
- prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes
- collect payments from guests
- thank guests for their visit and invite them to return
- clean tables or counters after guests have finished dining
- assist host or hostess by answering phones to take reservations or to-go orders, and by greeting, seating, and thanking guests
- roll silverware, set up food stations or dining areas for the next shift or large parties
- stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens
- prepare tables for meals, including setting up linens, silverware, and glassware
- perform cleaning duties including sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming carpet, tidying server station, taking out trash, or checking and cleaning bathrooms
- fill salt, pepper, sugar, cream, condiment, and napkin containers
- attend scheduled employee meetings and offer suggestions for improvement
- coordinate with and assist fellow employees to meet guests’ needs and support restaurant operations
- fill-in for fellow employees where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations
- provide guests with information about local areas, including directions
