Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in the food service industry is an asset
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs
- Ability to raise a tray weighing up to 25 lbs to shoulder height
- Must have sufficient mobility to stand and walk for 4 to 8 hour shifts
- Must be able to hear well in a loud environment
- Ability to operate point of sale system
- Ability to serve all Denny's menu products
- Must be able to work around potentially hazardous chemicals
- Must meet state and local health regulations regarding food handling
- Ability to differentiate between monetary denominations
Job Qualifications
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing
- Possess excellent guest service skills
- Have basic math skills including add, subtract, multiply, and divide
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Be dependable and able to learn tasks and follow instructions
- Meet Denny's uniform and grooming standards
- Must be at least 21 years old for locations serving alcoholic beverages
- Able to work flexible schedules including holidays, nights, and weekends
- Value diversity and demonstrate respect for others
- Must pass all required tests and training for the position
Job Duties
- Greet and seat guests promptly and courteously
- Take and deliver orders accurately using point of sale system
- Suggestively sell menu items to achieve guest check average targets
- Prepare beverage orders and certain appetizers, salads, and desserts
- Check orders for completeness and presentation
- Deliver food and beverages timely according to standards
- Attend to guests throughout dining experience in a polite and attentive manner
- Assist with seating using proper rotation and assist guests with special needs
- Pre-bus, clear, clean, and preset tables efficiently
- Address guest complaints and requests promptly and courteously
- Handle cash, credit card, and discount transactions accurately
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining room and service areas
- Complete all required side-work including deep cleaning assignments
- Assist team members willingly without being asked
- Adhere to Denny's brand standards and internal policies
