Job Requirements

  • Be punctual to begin shifts
  • Wear proper uniform including black slacks, Black Bear Diner shirt, suspenders, apron, and name badge
  • Maintain a neat and clean appearance
  • Stand and walk for prolonged periods
  • Carry plates and trays weighing up to nine pounds continuously
  • Lift up to 25 pounds as needed
  • Ability to write and use point-of-sale equipment
  • Maintain a cheerful disposition and smile frequently
  • Communicate effectively with guests and team members
  • Must work scheduled breaks and return promptly
  • Must be willing to work overtime
  • Report all equipment failures and shortages immediately

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of server experience
  • Food Handlers Certification
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of point-of-sale systems
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Courteous and positive attitude

Job Duties

  • Greet guests in a professional and friendly manner within two minutes of seating
  • Offer beverages including coffee, juice, iced tea, soft drinks, beer, wine, and seasonal specials
  • Announce menu specials during each meal period
  • Take accurate food orders and communicate any menu item availability issues to guests
  • Enter orders into the point-of-sale system ensuring all modifications are noted
  • Maintain communication with kitchen staff for special requests and order status
  • Provide timely beverage refills and update guests on any delays
  • Keep workstations clean and organized following the clean as you go policy
  • Assist with restocking condiments and cleaning duties
  • Report equipment issues and supply shortages to management
  • Support team by running food and transitioning stations as needed
  • Ensure guest checks are accurate and approved for any voids or changes
  • Comply with all food safety regulations and maintain current Food Handlers Certification
  • Take scheduled breaks on time and return promptly
  • Work overtime as required
