Job Requirements

  • must be eligible to work in the united states
  • previous food and beverage service work preferred but not required
  • ability to communicate in english both orally and written
  • ability to work as a part of a team
  • ability to understand verbal directions, written menus, recipes, labels on foods and chemicals, and safety signage
  • active listening and observation skills
  • knowledge of common food allergies and cross-contamination issues
  • outgoing personality with good oral comprehension and speech clarity
  • ability to work under pressure and handle stressful situations
  • frequent walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, lifting, manual dexterity, and repetitive motions

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • previous food and beverage service experience preferred but not required
  • ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing
  • excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • knowledge of common food allergies and cross-contamination issues
  • ability to work effectively in a team
  • proficiency in operating point of sale systems and basic kitchen equipment
  • understanding of food safety and sanitation standards
  • strong observation and active listening skills
  • ability to manage stressful situations with tact and diplomacy

Job Duties

  • maintain a neat and professional appearance with a properly cleaned uniform
  • greet guests warmly, politely, and in a timely manner once seated
  • speak to guests with enthusiasm
  • answer questions about menu items and food preparation techniques
  • make suggestions about special menu items
  • take advantage of opportunities to up-sell additional food and beverage items where appropriate
  • answer questions from patrons about beverages and beverage service
  • understand regulatory responsibilities regarding the service of alcoholic beverages
  • accurately convey guest orders to kitchen
  • deliver food and beverage to tables efficiently
  • ensure food is presented according to restaurant standards
  • assist guests with needs, corrections, or additional items during service
  • handle guest dissatisfaction professionally
  • clear tables efficiently
  • prepare and present customer bills
  • process payments correctly
  • understand reporting requirements for tips
  • safely operate restaurant equipment
  • handle special orders and complaints professionally
  • inform customers about order status
  • communicate food allergies to kitchen
  • complete assigned side work
  • participate in banquet functions as directed
