Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- considerable experience working with traffic signal systems
- possession of a valid North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License
- possession of certification as a Traffic Signal Technician Level II from the International Municipal Signal Association or ability to obtain within 6 months
- normal color vision
- availability to work standby at night for emergency repairs
- physical ability to perform exertion tasks up to lifting 100 pounds
- ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED

- knowledge of traffic signal control systems
- ability to read electrical diagrams
- ability to work standby at night for emergency repairs
- availability to perform snow removal duties

Job Duties
- Maintains traffic signals at various city intersections as assigned
- upgrades existing systems as necessary
- troubleshoots and programs controller for operation of traffic signals
- repairs malfunctioning traffic signals
- installs underground and overhead traffic signal wires
- installs inductive detection loops
- sets up road closures and detours for traffic signal repairs
- directs vehicle traffic during special events
- builds new signals according to specifications
- answers trouble calls for field repairs
- assigned to night standby duty for emergency repairs
- performs snow removal duties as needed
