Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- 5 to 7 years of claims adjusting experience
- Advanced expertise in commercial casualty excess claims handling
- Experience managing claims exceeding $1 million
- Strong investigative and evaluative skills
- Excellent negotiation and settlement capabilities
- Ability to work independently with moderate direction
- Willingness to travel and attend office twice a month if within 50 miles of specified offices
- Strong communication skills
- Knowledge of insurance legal and regulatory environments
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 5 to 7 years of claims adjusting experience
- Advanced knowledge of commercial casualty claims investigation, coverage evaluation, reserving and expense management
- Strong resolution strategy and negotiation skills
- Familiarity with litigation management and insurance legal and regulatory environment
- Customer focus and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Adaptability and demonstrated ability to work independently and execute thoroughly
- Expert level experience with commercial casualty and/or commercial specialty claims exceeding $1 million at the primary and excess level
Job Duties
- Determines coverage, investigates claims, sets and adjusts reserves, evaluates claims, negotiates settlements, authorizes and pays claims, may deny claims
- Reviews lawsuit documentation and supporting evidence to establish resolution actions
- Determines loss coverage, amounts owed, discovery plans, and negotiations
- Establishes working teams including Home Office Legal, Defense Counsel, and Home Office Claims
- Manages practices and billing activities of outside counsel
- Ensures security of financial processing and information in claims files
- Trains and mentors staff, manages relationships, and acts as liaison with business partners
- Monitors legislation, court decisions, and industry trends impacting claims policies
- Participates in special projects
- Advises Claims Management for appropriate actions
