Job Requirements

  • Able to train and develop a large group of employees and manage an active kitchen
  • strong problem-solving skills
  • results driven
  • able to speak to employees with tact and diplomacy
  • able to multitask including tracking and monitoring recipe development while maintaining productivity
  • computer literate to input information
  • able to take direction and relay information effectively
  • comfortable working in hot, cool or cold environments ranging from 30 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or related work experience
  • American Culinary Federation chef certification preferred
  • 1-3+ years experience in commissary kitchen and high-volume food preparation
  • fluent in Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications
  • able to read, write and speak English, bilingual in Spanish a plus

Job Duties

  • Train, coach and develop hourly kitchen staff
  • maintain security and upkeep of kitchen equipment, food and supply inventories
  • plan energy conservation procedures in the kitchen
  • ensure kitchen compliance with state and federal health and safety codes
  • maintain standards for food storage, rotation, quality and appearance
  • balance quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results
  • continuously improve kitchen processes and collaborate with other departments
  • manage departmental performance measures and provide progress reports to Chef de Cuisine
  • manage department priorities as situations arise
  • perform accident investigations and notify management as appropriate
