Job Requirements

  • two years of experience in recreation or senior programming
  • bachelor’s degree preferred in recreation management, physical education, recreation and leisure studies, or a related field
  • valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one within ninety days of employment or military waiver
  • ability to travel to other work locations
  • ability to work outdoors in extreme heat and cold
  • capability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
  • knowledge of first aid practices and safety protocols

Job Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in recreation or senior programming
  • bachelor’s degree preferred in Recreation Management, Physical Education, Recreation and Leisure studies, or a related field
  • valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 90 days
  • strong knowledge of planning and directing group, social, and recreational activities for seniors
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to implement and evaluate programs
  • customer service orientation
  • ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
  • ability to respond to emergencies

Job Duties

  • Develop, direct, and supervise programs and special events for senior citizens
  • publicize programs and initiatives
  • initiate and teach classes as needed
  • provide accurate and timely customer services
  • respond to requests for information
  • oversee facility patrons
  • plan, organize, conduct, and coordinate a variety of programs, classes, special events, and presentations for the Senior Services Division
  • prepare various reports and promotional materials
  • collaborate with community organizations, businesses, and service providers
  • ensure procedures and rules are followed at the Rose Park Senior Center
  • assist in planning and developing future senior center improvements and recreation programs
  • recruit class instructors and volunteers
  • perform other job-related duties as assigned
