Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of hospitality sales experience
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in sales and/or event management with strong sales and negotiation skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to write business correspondence effectively
  • Creative thinking and ability to develop innovative solutions
  • Strong skills in time management, information analysis, problem-solving, planning and organizing, decision making, and delivery of results
  • Strong interpersonal influence skills including coaching, motivating, delegating, and relationship-building
  • Proficiency with mathematical operations including calculating discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages
  • Analytical mindset for assessing data and identifying trends
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, Teams, OneNote, and Excel
  • Knowledge of hospitality sales platforms considered a plus
  • Proficient in conducting client research and staying updated on industry trends
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to read profit & loss statements
  • Ability to present effectively to senior management and clients
  • Ability to travel for client entertainment and meetings

Job Duties

  • Meet and exceed sales goals of assigned market segments through proactive sales efforts
  • Focus on achieving revenue goals via sales plan, client development, managing key relationships, networking, and identifying new markets such as consortia, corporate, weddings, leisure, neighborhood and chamber of commerce referrals
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of sales activities and client contact information within the Sales & Events database
  • Report weekly achievements against goals for prospecting, inquiries, activities, and industry events and adjust strategies accordingly
  • Solicit and secure new business through outside sales calls
  • Participate in trade shows, promotional events, and industry events
  • Conduct site inspections and client presentations
  • Respond to inbound requests for proposals within 24 hours
  • Utilize client negotiation, closing tactics, and contractual language knowledge
  • Differentiate hotel from competition and bring unique value to customers
  • Implement sales plan to maximize market share
  • Create seamless client experience from sales to event management
  • Achieve assigned goals and objectives
  • Maximize efficiencies in time management and productivity
  • Forecast revenue of assigned groups
  • Develop and maintain favorable working relationships and open communication with all departments
  • Establish and maintain positive professional relationships with clients
  • Comply with accounting standards including deposits and direct billing
  • Confirm accurate revenue posting and client billing
  • Develop full knowledge of applicable standards, policies, and procedures
  • Attend required meetings
  • Achieve client sentiment goals
  • Adhere to Columbia Hospitality Policies and Procedures
