Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • one to two years experience in hotel and or conference center sales
  • conference center experience preferred
  • ability to use independent judgment and professional discretion in booking business
  • ability to evaluate market potential and develop new programs
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to coordinate with various hotel departments
  • understanding of forecasting and revenue management
  • capacity to represent company in professional settings
  • adherence to company policies

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Selling group rooms
  • servicing accounts
  • developing and following up on leads for assigned markets
  • conduct effective sales programs in established group room markets by setting and achieving goals
  • achieve sales goals
  • develop and implement new or special market programs when needed
  • evaluate potential business for existing and new markets
  • communicate accurate information on in-house groups to help hotel associates service their needs most completely
  • maintain daily contact with in-house groups
  • anticipate or react to group problems and provide solutions
  • maintain effective communication with all necessary contacts regarding group business, reports of conventions, copies of correspondence, and memos
  • develop and maintain owner relations as it relates to business opportunities
  • prepare specialized reports as needed
  • understand forecasting month-end reports and assist in compiling reports
  • keep abreast of budgeted revenue goals and assist in putting together plans and actions or originate and generate business when needed
  • ensure guest checks, payments, master folios, and advanced deposits are submitted to accounting and ensure any other group information necessary or helpful for successful convention business is submitted to appropriate departments
  • understand and work closely with Reservations Department to ensure target ceilings and rates are met
  • represent company at trade association meetings to promote the property
  • responsible for knowing and abiding by all department, hotel, and company policies and procedures
  • perform other duties as assigned
