Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 4 years experience in sales and marketing, guest services, front desk, or related area
  • OR 2-year degree from accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major
  • 2 years experience in sales and marketing or related professional area
  • Preferred large group sales experience
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Ability to conduct site inspections
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to multi-task and work collaboratively
  • Availability to work full time on site in Oakland, California

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 4 years of experience in sales, marketing, guest services or related area
  • OR 2-year degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management or related major with 2 years of experience
  • Preferred: large group sales experience
  • Strong negotiating and communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Knowledge of market conditions and competitors
  • Proficient in developing and implementing sales and marketing plans
  • Skilled in customer service excellence and problem resolution
  • Experience with forecasting and budgeting
  • Ability to work collaboratively within teams

Job Duties

  • Acts as the on-property liaison for group sales within peak room parameters
  • Contracts and closes group business
  • Conducts site inspections
  • Verifies timely and quality turnover to Event Management
  • Achieves group revenue goals by up-selling opportunities
  • Develops group sales revenue and operation budgets
  • Partners with Area Sales to identify new business
  • Implements brand service strategies and initiatives
  • Builds and strengthens customer relationships
  • Provides excellent customer service to drive satisfaction and loyalty
  • Works collaboratively with sales and operations teams
  • Participates in pre- and post-convention meetings
  • Monitors same-day selling to maximize room revenue
  • Resolves guest issues from sales process
  • Performs other duties as assigned
