Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum five years of sports or tourism sales and marketing related experience
  • Established contacts in the sports and tourism industry
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Proficiency in public speaking
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare reports
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and CRM applications
  • Ability to plan and coordinate events and sales missions
  • Willingness to travel extensively including weekends
  • Valid driver’s license or ability to secure Florida driver’s license
  • Must be physically and mentally able to perform job duties
  • Must report for work during declared emergencies in Polk County

Job Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited four year college or university
  • Minimum of five years sports or tourism sales and marketing related experience
  • Established contacts in the sports and tourism industry
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Skilled in public speaking
  • Ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and formulate recommendations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM software applications
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to coordinate meetings, conferences, and events
  • Experience in budget preparation and financial management
  • Willingness to travel extensively
  • Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain Florida driver’s license
  • Destination marketing organization experience preferred
  • Meetings or tourism industry certifications preferred

Job Duties

  • Assist senior sales and events manager with creation and implementation of tourism and sports sales and marketing plan
  • Travel domestically and internationally to supervise marketing and selling of Polk County as a destination
  • Develop niche markets to increase overnight stays in Polk County
  • Plan and coordinate sales missions in target markets
  • Assist with budgeting, financial control, and analysis
  • Manage staff and strategies at trade shows and tourism sports events
  • Coordinate sales and marketing presentations to corporate decision makers
  • Generate and qualify leads using databases and other sales methods
  • Prepare follow up reports and analysis
  • Develop and analyze contact lists for clients
  • Design sales and marketing materials
  • Manage sales and marketing efforts with key sports and event facilities
  • Represent partners at trade shows and client sales efforts
  • Assist with coordination and operations of Polk County special events
  • Manage special event budgets and negotiations for room blocks and rates
  • Direct staff during special events and trade shows
  • Formulate and oversee outdoor recreation strategies
  • Attend conferences, seminars, industry trade shows, and sales missions
  • Use independent judgment to set priorities and coordinate work
  • Perform related duties as required
