Job Requirements
- Ability to travel up to 50% for company gatherings or for site visits
- located in Texas ideally or west of the Mississippi
- bachelor’s degree in a safety-related field or equivalent experience
- 15+ years of relevant safety experience
- strong knowledge of OSHA regulations
- familiarity with electrical safety standards such as NFPA 70E
- strong leadership and communication skills
- ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
- proficiency with safety management software
- ability to manage multi-site safety programs
- experience with incident investigations
- excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
Job Qualifications
- Strong leadership skills
- 15+ years of safety experience within a construction delivery organization
- data center experience highly desired
- a bachelor's degree in a safety-specific field such as occupational health and safety or equivalent experience
- proven ability to lead safety initiatives across multiple sites and stakeholders
- self-directed leader with progressive safety experience
- strong analytical skills to evaluate safety performance data, identify trends and recommend data-driven improvements to safety programs and operations
- in-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations both Construction and General Industry
- strong knowledge of electrical safety programs and NFPA 70E standards
- solid knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices in the workplace
- familiarity in incident investigation, injury management, and hazard analysis
- working knowledge of safety management software, such as Procore
- proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- strong communication and teamwork skills
- strong supervisory and leadership skills
- strong ability to build working relationships with internal and external teams
Job Duties
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety systems, processes, and performance across operations and projects
- promote Rowan's safety culture, foster proactive behaviors, accountability, and risk awareness at every level of the organization
- track safety KPIs, deliver performance dashboards, and communicate trends to leadership
- collaborate with general contractors and construction managers to ensure Rowan's standards are applied on all projects
- work with General Contractors to ensure project safety programs meet Rowan requirements prior to project kickoff
- participate in planning and risk reviews for high-hazard work
- oversight to Rowan's Energy Isolation Program, ensuring consistent application of lockout/tagout (LOTO), energized work permitting, and safe electrical practices across all campuses
- provide governance and oversight of the Energy Marshall program, ensuring qualified Energy Marshalls are assigned, trained, and actively engaged during operational and project activities
- drive engagement initiatives that empower employees and contractors to actively participate in Rowan’s safety culture
- support incident investigations and ensure lessons learned are implemented effectively
- review and support the development and implementation of plans, procedures, and strategies, ensuring their consistency and effectiveness
- promote a culture of radical transparency by capturing and analyzing all near misses and incidents to drive continuous improvement and achieve zero injuries
- maintain and enhance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices
- conduct periodic safety inspections, document findings and ensuring timely corrective action closure
