Job Requirements
- Have 10+ years of experience in production or stage management, event production, agency event management, or similar roles
- Experience producing large-scale conferences, product launches, or live productions with operational and technical complexity
- Proven track record managing multi-million dollar budgets
- Ability to manage multiple events concurrently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Familiarity with event production technologies and AV coordination
- Willingness to travel approximately 30%
- Based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco, CA, with a hybrid work schedule
- Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Commitment to safety, risk management, and contingency planning
Job Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in production, stage management, event production, agency event management, or similar roles
- Experience producing large-scale conferences, product launches, or live productions with operational and technical complexity
- Proven track record managing multi-million dollar budgets
- Strong working knowledge of full-stack event production including conference and meeting planning, registration, attendee journey, stage production, immersive activations, and catering
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments managing multiple events
- Excellent organizational skills and calm leadership in high-pressure situations
- Strong negotiation skills for vendor sourcing and contract management
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Passion for innovation and using AI tools to scale event production
- Deep interest in artificial intelligence and its impact on humanity
Job Duties
- Oversee production for OpenAI’s flagship conference, OpenAI DevDay, owning major production workstreams including event flow, stage production, vendors, and onsite execution
- Manage and direct cross-functional teams, vendors, and other stakeholders
- Lead cross-functional production meetings and stakeholder syncs, ensuring clear ownership, accountability, and progress
- Track deliverables against timelines, align teams on priorities, and drive stakeholders to meet key milestones
- Collaborate on event execution strategies and partner with event managers and business DRIs to shape event plans
- Manage stage productions including content production, stage management, and AV coordination
- Support creative production by collaborating with creative teams and managing creative vendors onsite
- Source and negotiate vendors, secure contracts, and build lasting partnerships
- Oversee risk management and contingency planning including securing permits, insurance, and managing onsite issues
- Track budgets and financials to ensure events stay within allocated limits
- Define production strategies and operational frameworks for scaling complex events
- Oversee detailed production timelines, project workbacks, and cross-team coordination
