Job Requirements
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- must demonstrate ability to pursue and perform multiple tasks simultaneously
- must have excellent verbal and technical writing skills
- must have PC experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- five years of relevant experience or equivalent
- ability to manage complex programs and teams
- ability to work flexible hours and possibly 24/7 shifts
- effective communication and interpersonal skills
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Safety Management, Operations Management, Emergency Management, Transportation, Business Management, Quality Management, Systems Management, or related field
- five years’ experience in System Safety, Transportation Operations or Maintenance, Project Management, or Engineering
- excellent verbal and strong technical writing skills
- PC experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- USDOT Transportation Institute Transit Safety and Security Program certificate preferred
- Federal Transit Administration Public Transportation Safety Certification Training Program Certification preferred
- knowledge of Military Standard 882 hazard identification and mitigation preferred
- experience in Transit Safety and Security preferred
- knowledge of FTA Safety and Security Certification Handbook preferred
- prior SSC experience strongly preferred
- project management experience strongly preferred
- experience in Public Transportation Industry operations preferred
Job Duties
- Leads and program-manages Safety and Security Certification (SSC) program requirements and activities for capital projects at SEPTA
- monitors projects to identify SSC requirements
- develops, updates, and implements SSC plans, policies, and procedures
- leads SSC governance bodies and oversees scheduling, documentation, and coordination
- partners with SEPTA EM&C to ensure SSC compliance for capital projects
- contributes to capital project design reviews
- oversees development and quality assurance of SSC program documents and records
- designs, delivers, and monitors SSC training programs
- serves as primary liaison for FTA, FRA, and PennDOT SSOA
- maintains active communication with other System Safety departments
- supports management of change and configuration management processes
- performs duties as required by DCSO, Safety Engineering
- may work on a 24/7 basis with variable schedule
