Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 4 years experience in event management, food and beverage, or related area
  • or bachelor's degree from accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major
  • 2 years experience in event management, food and beverage, or related area
  • strong leadership and communication skills
  • ability to manage budgets and departmental expenses
  • experience in customer service
  • knowledge of safety and emergency procedures
  • ability to work full time

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 4 years experience in event management, food and beverage, or related field
  • or bachelor's degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major with 2 years experience in event management or related field
  • knowledge of food and wine pairings and current cuisine trends
  • strong leadership and team management skills
  • ability to manage budgets and resources effectively
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • knowledge of laws applicable to event management
  • experience in customer service excellence

Job Duties

  • Manage and coordinate catering activities and services to ensure smooth execution of food and beverage events
  • project supply needs for the department including china, glass, silver, buffet presentations, and props
  • apply knowledge of laws related to event management
  • manage departmental inventories and maintain equipment
  • schedule banquet service staff to meet service standards while maximizing profits
  • assist in developing lasting client relationships to retain business and promote growth
  • manage departmental controllable expenses to meet or exceed budget goals
  • verify that all banquet event orders are developed and distributed according to guidelines
  • set goals and delegate tasks to improve staff performance
  • act as liaison to kitchen staff and lead shifts in servicing conference events
  • promote exceptional customer service by setting a positive example and responding to guest feedback
  • empower employees to provide excellent customer service
  • communicate and execute emergency and safety procedures
  • observe and provide feedback on employee service behaviors
  • monitor progress and participate in corrective action plans
  • attend and participate in relevant meetings
