Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 4 years experience in event management, food and beverage, or related professional area
- or bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in hotel and restaurant management, hospitality, business administration, or related major
- 2 years experience in event management, food and beverage, or related professional area
- strong leadership and communication skills
- ability to manage budgets and departmental inventories
- knowledge of safety and emergency procedures
- ability to handle guest complaints effectively
- availability to work full time at Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center
- adherence to company policies and standards
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with 4 years experience in event management, food and beverage, or related professional area
- Bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major with 2 years experience in event management, food and beverage, or related professional area
- Knowledge of event laws and safety procedures
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Familiarity with banquet operations and food and wine pairings
- Ability to manage budgets and control expenses
- Capability to develop and maintain business relationships
- Proficient in scheduling and staff management
- Experience in handling guest feedback and complaint resolution
Job Duties
- Project supply needs for the department including china, glass, silver, buffet presentations, and props
- Apply knowledge of all laws as they relate to events
- Manage banquet operations to maximize customer satisfaction
- Adhere to and reinforce all standards, policies, and procedures
- Maintain established sanitation levels
- Manage departmental inventories and maintain equipment
- Schedule banquet service staff to meet forecast and service standards while maximizing profits
- Assist in developing lasting relationships with groups to retain business and increase growth
- Manage department controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budget goals
- Verify all banquet event orders are developed and distributed according to guidelines
- Set goals and delegate tasks to improve staff performance
- Apply knowledge of food and wine pairings and current cuisine trends
- Act as a liaison to kitchen staff
- Lead shifts and participate actively in servicing conference events
- Set positive examples for guest relations
- Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels
- Respond to and handle guest problems and complaints
- Empower employees to provide excellent customer service
- Ensure employees understand expectations and parameters
- Strive to improve service performance
- Emphasize guest satisfaction during departmental meetings
- Review comment cards and guest satisfaction results with employees
- Communicate and execute emergency procedures and ensure staff are trained in safety
- Observe service behaviors of employees and provide feedback
- Monitor progress and lead discussion with staff
- Participate in development and implementation of corrective action plans
- Attend and participate in all pertinent meetings
