Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Four years experience in event management, food and beverage, or a related field OR bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major
  • Two years experience in event management, food and beverage, or a related professional area
  • Ability to manage banquet service staff and oversee event operations
  • Knowledge of food service laws and sanitation standards
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Willingness to work full time on site at Gaylord Opryland Resort
  • Eligibility to participate in bonus programs

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with four years experience in event management, food and beverage, or a related professional area
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major with two years experience
  • Knowledge of laws and standards pertaining to event management
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities
  • Understanding of food and wine pairings and current culinary trends
  • Ability to manage budgets and departmental expenses
  • Proficiency in scheduling and inventory management
  • Experience with safety procedures and staff training
  • Competence in conflict resolution and staff development

Job Duties

  • Manage and coordinate catering activities and services to ensure smooth execution of conventions and events
  • Handle complex groups, high touch groups, and ongoing projects
  • Project supply needs for catering including china, glass, silver, buffet presentations, and props
  • Adhere to all applicable laws and company standards related to event management
  • Schedule banquet service staff to meet service standards and maximize profits
  • Act as liaison between kitchen staff and event teams
  • Lead shifts and participate in servicing conference events
  • Set goals and delegate tasks to improve staff performance
  • Implement customer service initiatives and handle guest feedback and complaints
  • Monitor and maintain departmental inventories and equipment
  • Manage controllable expenses to achieve budget goals
  • Develop and distribute banquet event orders according to guidelines
  • Communicate and execute emergency procedures and safety training
  • Observe and provide feedback on employee service behaviors
  • Participate in development and implementation of corrective action plans
  • Attend relevant departmental and property meetings
