Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous cooking experience preferably in senior living or healthcare
- Knowledge of food safety standards
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical kitchen duties
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Willingness to work assigned shifts from 11:30 am to 7:30 pm
- Compassion and patience working with elderly residents
Job Qualifications
- Proven experience as a cook or in a similar role ideally in healthcare or senior living settings
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
- Ability to follow recipes and adjust portion sizes for large groups
- Compassionate and caring attitude with a genuine desire to enhance the lives of seniors
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and organized environment
- Certification in food safety culinary arts or related field is a plus
Job Duties
- Prepare and cook meals according to dietary guidelines and resident preferences
- Follow food safety guidelines to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness in kitchen and dining areas
- Prepare special meals for residents with specific dietary needs such as low-sodium, diabetic, vegetarian, or gluten-free options
- Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth meal preparation and service
- Support a positive and respectful work environment
- Maintain inventory of kitchen supplies and report shortages
- Assist in cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment
