Job Description
The City of Colton Community Services Department is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join their team as seasonal part-time Lifeguards and Swim Instructors. Located in Colton, California, this role offers an hourly wage between $20.89 and $22.16 and operates on a seasonal part-time employment basis. Job Requirements
- Minimum 17 years of age
- Possession of valid California Identification or School I.D. card
- Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications at time of appointment
- Meet physical requirements including mobility, vision, hearing, and dexterity
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Ability to supervise lifeguard staff and perform aquatic activities
- Ability to perform light pool maintenance
- Willingness to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions
- Ability to react quickly during emergencies
- Maintain professional appearance and punctuality
- Ability to work on slippery or uneven surfaces
Job Qualifications
- Enrolled in and attending high school or general education equivalent if under 18
- High school diploma or GED required if 18 or older
- Minimum of three months lifeguarding and/or swim instructor experience
- Possession of American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid certification
- Possession of American Red Cross CPR/AED for Lifeguards certification
Job Duties
- Enforces all pool and facility rules
- Accurately conducts and records water quality tests
- Performs facility inspections on equipment
- Prevents injuries and minimizes hazardous situations
- Assists in planning and conducting in-service training and lifeguard drills
- Provides patron surveillance whenever a patron is in the water
- Responds to all injuries, accidents, and emergency situations
- Instructs various ages in swimming, water safety, and aquatic programming
- Completes assigned cleaning duties
- Maintains prompt and regular attendance
- Performs related duties as required
