Job Requirements
- At least high school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive hotel sales experience
- Valid driver’s license in the applicable state
- Proficiency with Windows and company-approved software
- Willingness to work long hours as required
- Ability to perform light physical work including lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize workload effectively
- Professional appearance and grooming

Job Qualifications
- At least 3 years of progressive hotel sales experience
- Must have a driver’s license in the applicable state
- Must be proficient in Windows, company approved spreadsheets and word processing
- Ability to work long hours as needed
- Capability to perform light work involving occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds and frequent lifting of up to 10 pounds
Job Duties
- Be familiar with all Highgate Hotel sales policies and selling techniques with an emphasis on maximizing occupancy and average daily rate (ADR)
- Conduct professional, thorough site inspections of the hotel with clients, exhibiting key features and benefits of the property
- Develop a full working knowledge of hotel operations, including Food and Beverage, Guest Services and Reservations
- Ensure knowledge of and adherence to company sales policies and SOPs by the sales team
- Develop and execute plans to engage in outside sales calls, industry tradeshows and customer events
- Meet or exceed set sales goals
- Research, solicit and generate new leads for business opportunities through database research and proactive sales efforts
- Attend daily and weekly Highgate Hotel Business Review (HHBR) meetings as needed
- Operate the Sales Department within established sales expense budget
- Participate in required Management on Duty (M.O.D.) and office coverage as scheduled
- Maintain and participate in an active sales solicitation program
- Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within your market
- Regularly contact existing accounts based on the tracing frequencies of the Account Coverage Program
- Invite clients to the hotel for entertainment, lunches, tours and site inspections
- Assist in implementing special promotions relating to direct sales segments such as parties and sales blitzes
- Assist in the preparation of required reports in a timely manner
- Use the property’s computerized sales management system to manage the hotel’s business including generating reports, entering business, blocking space and building accounts
- Meet and greet onsite contacts
- Abide by Prime Selling Time (PST)
- Develop networking opportunities through active participation in community and professional associations, activities and events
- Review meeting planner evaluations with the Director of Sales to ensure that issues receive follow-up
- Entertain clients
- Manage and negotiate sales transactions to ensure smooth and successful closings
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with all employees and guests in a friendly, courteous and service oriented manner
- Listen to, understand and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests
- Multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner
- Attend all required hotel meetings and trainings
- Maintain regular attendance as required by scheduling needs
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming including wearing nametags
- Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
- Maximize productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions
- Handle problems effectively including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving issues as necessary
- Understand and evaluate complex data from various sources to meet objectives
- Maintain confidentiality of information
- Perform other duties as requested by management
