Job Requirements

  • Must have at least one year of experience in large-scale food preparation and service serving 100 plus customers per day
  • must be able to read, write, understand, and follow oral and written instructions in English
  • must be able to perform routine and repetitive tasks standing and walking for long periods
  • must be willing and able to work flexible hours including days, evenings, rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime
  • must maintain a neat and clean personal appearance
  • must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy objects
  • must be able to stand for long periods
  • must be able to work cooperatively with others
  • must be able to follow and adjust standardized recipes and maintain sanitation and safety regulations

Job Qualifications

  • At least one year of large-scale food preparation and service experience serving 100 plus customers per day
  • experience in institutional food service settings such as hospitals, large cafeterias, military or stadiums
  • ability to read, write, and understand English and follow oral and written instructions
  • working knowledge of sanitation and safety practices, food storage and inventory procedures, and kitchen equipment operation
  • effective interpersonal skills with tact, patience, and courtesy
  • ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation in food preparation areas
  • strong organizational and record-keeping skills
  • ability to lead and train junior food service staff
  • capability to operate kitchen machinery safely
  • effective communication skills both oral and written

Job Duties

  • Plan, prepare, apportion, deliver, and serve meals according to standardized recipes and food handling guidelines
  • store and inventory food, supplies, and materials per Department and State regulations
  • sanitize all equipment, utensils, appliances, and facilities and clean dishes, trays, pots, pans, utensils, kitchen equipment, and food preparation areas
  • operate a variety of kitchen equipment including stand mixer, tilt braiser, tilt steam kettle, electric slicer, steam cabinet, industrial dishwasher, oven, and others
  • operate a cash register and count and collect money as necessary
  • read, interpret, and complete various documents such as medical dietary orders, meal count forms, and logs
  • provide transportation and delivery of food in emergencies
  • provide lead supervision and training over other food services staff
  • perform other related duties as required
