Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • ability to learn and pass food handling certification
  • minimum two years of experience in production cooking or similar
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to work independently and exercise good judgment
  • weekend and holiday availability including every Sunday
  • ability to work varied shifts between 5:00 AM and 8:00 PM
  • friendly customer service attitude
  • ability to handle cash transactions accurately and quickly
  • compliance with Banner Staffing Services food handler card requirement within 30 days if applicable

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent working knowledge
  • demonstrated ability to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests
  • at least two years of experience in production cooking or similar food service role
  • solid understanding of cooking principles, menu substitutions, and recipe adjustments
  • effective interpersonal communication skills
  • friendly customer service attitude
  • ability to accurately calculate and handle cash transactions rapidly
  • strong organizational and autonomous working skills
  • preferred additional education or experience in related fields

Job Duties

  • Plan daily food production and quantities
  • determine menu substitutions in case of shortages
  • minimize food waste by proper planning and tracking
  • record food shortages and excess quantities
  • take inventory of food products and settle catering/interdepartmental food charges
  • prepare all food items according to standardized recipes adjusting quantities as needed
  • notify supervisor of production issues
  • provide customer service meeting quality standards
  • respond to customer complaints and assist in problem resolution
  • accurately record all sales and transact customer payments
  • maintain and deposit register cash
  • run sales and cash accuracy reports
  • maintain par levels of food and supplies
  • order and restock items
  • rotate food stocks and check freshness
  • log food and equipment temperatures
  • maintain cleanliness and attractiveness of all assigned workstations
  • clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, equipment, and kitchen areas
  • dispose waste materials appropriately
  • may provide full-range catering and special event services
  • operate independently with good judgment and strong cooking and food preparation knowledge
  • interact professionally with patients, visitors, hospital staff, and other food service personnel
  • resolve customer issues at the point of contact
