Job Requirements

  • Minimum five years cooking experience including fine dining restaurant experience
  • minimum two years food and beverage management experience at a four-diamond hotel
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings weekends and holidays
  • NYC food handler's certificate required
  • strong communication skills in English
  • capability to work independently and multitask
  • knowledge of basic culinary arts
  • demonstrated leadership experience
  • experience in a union environment
  • service oriented
  • understanding of French cooking techniques preferred

  • proven knowledge and ability to oversee hotel banquet kitchen and restaurant operations with minimum two years in food and beverage management at a four-diamond hotel

Job Duties

  • Lead mentor and train the culinary operations team
  • ensure correct preparation and presentation of all food items
  • monitor food costs with executive kitchen leadership
  • support administrative responsibilities such as scheduling payroll and expenses
  • supervise food preparation methods portion sizes garnishing and presentation
  • coordinate and supervise ordering of food supplies and kitchen equipment
  • train develop supervise and organize kitchen personnel
  • lead kitchen staff meetings and participate in all required meetings
  • supervise maintenance and cleanliness of all food preparation equipment
  • supervise and maintain staff canteen
  • supervise and monitor stewarding team
  • develop and ensure a safe working environment
  • communicate regularly with executive chef and sous chefs on kitchen activities and results
