Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Four years experience in event management preferred
  • Knowledge of food, beverage, audiovisual, room setups and menu planning
  • Strong multitasking and project management abilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Good listening skills for problem resolution
  • Basic math skills
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules
  • Ability to handle guest and employee concerns positively
  • Proficiency with computers and software
  • High degree of accuracy and detail orientation
  • Ability to sit, stand and move as required
  • Hearing and visual ability to detect emergencies
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Attendance at catering and departmental meetings

Job Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree preferred
  • Four years experience in event management with leadership emphasis
  • Knowledge of food, beverage, audiovisual, room sets and menu planning
  • Strong multiple-project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Basic mathematical skills for calculation of room blocks, costs and checks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of Marriott systems including CI/TY preferred
  • Ability to conduct tours of hotel event spaces and meet clients
  • Excellent telephone etiquette skills
  • Ability to represent company professionally and courteously

Job Duties

  • Oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of large and/or high profile events
  • Updates and manages CI/TY with event information and customer communication
  • Communicates with clients to ensure event details are accurate and complete
  • Assists in the supervision and training of staff and other departmental activities
  • Organizes files and paperwork to ensure proper communication and historical reference
  • Acts as liaison between sales managers and clients in sales managers absence
  • Ensures guest satisfaction by timely follow up correspondence
