Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years experience in event management or related professional area
  • OR Two-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to manage budgets and maximize revenue
  • Experience coordinating complex events
  • Ability to lead and support cross-department teams
  • Willingness to work full time and on site at W Minneapolis - The Foshay

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 2 years of experience in event management or related professional area
  • OR 2-year degree from accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field with no required work experience
  • Proven ability to manage complex events and client relationships
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Experience with budgeting and revenue management
  • Ability to lead meetings and coordinate multiple departments
  • Familiarity with event planning software and tools
  • Demonstrated customer service excellence and team collaboration

Job Duties

  • Prepares all event documentation and coordinates with Sales, property departments and customers
  • Handles complex events and ensures seamless turnover from sales to service and back
  • Recognizes opportunities to maximize revenue by upselling and offering enhancements
  • Supports and acts on behalf of the Director of Event Management or Director of Event Planning and Operations in their absence
  • Serves as the primary contact on property for assigned events ensuring a high level of customer experience
  • Leads pre-event and post-event meetings to review and communicate group needs and feedback
  • Manages customer budgets, group room blocks, meeting spaces, and customer experiences from file turnover through post-event phase
  • Participates in customer site inspections and supports sales process when necessary
  • Manages revenue, forecasts event profitability, and reviews billing and payments with clients
  • Handles guest problems and complaints and follows up post-event to improve service levels
  • Coordinates and communicates verbally and in writing with customers regarding event details
  • Celebrates team successes and recognizes contributions
