Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 6 years experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related area
- Or bachelor’s degree in relevant field
- Minimum 3 years experience in event management or related field
- Strong communication skills
- Leadership experience
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in industry-relevant software
- Ability to manage multiple projects
- Problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of EEO and AA policies
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with 6 years experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related professional area
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major with 3 years experience in event management or related area
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in sales and catering systems
- Ability to manage multiple complex events simultaneously
- Knowledge of current trends in conventions and meetings industry
- Experience in conflict resolution and client relationship management
- Ability to coach, train, and mentor staff effectively
Job Duties
- Manage and coordinate Convention Services activities associated with planning, supervising and executing events for complex and high touch groups
- Plan and develop programs, agendas, and services according to client requirements
- Communicate all group specifications and history to operational departments
- Ensure specifications are implemented and executed to guidelines
- Partner with senior leadership to implement process improvements
- Accurately forecast group revenues
- Promote proper use of function and event space
- Maximize group revenue by referring goods and services to groups
- Assist with training and development initiatives for Convention Services staff
- Oversee contracted group room blocks including cutoffs and attrition
- Create external communications such as contract addendums and introductory letters
- Host planning meetings, site inspections, and pre-convention meetings
- Promote client satisfaction through smooth event execution
- Communicate catering event details to operating departments and customers
- Manage quality process in customer service and employee satisfaction
- Provide constructive coaching and counseling to employees
- Direct development, training, and mentoring of employees
- Demonstrate knowledge of task delegation and deadline imposition
- Motivate employees and provide a productive work environment
- Listen and respond to employee needs
- Manage group or interpersonal conflict situations
- Develop and manage hourly employees
