Job Requirements

  • 4 years experience in event management with leadership emphasis preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Four-year college degree preferred
  • Knowledge of food, beverage, audio visual, room sets and menu planning is required
  • Strong multiple-project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Good listening skills and extend assistance to resolve problems
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules
  • Ability to handle guest and employee concerns in a friendly and positive manner
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening and communication skills in English
  • Ability to sit, stand and move throughout to perform essential job functions
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of Marriott systems including CI/TY preferred
  • High degree of accuracy and detail orientation
  • Promptly respond to requests for information on hotel facilities and menus
  • Conduct tours of the hotel to clients as needed
  • Hearing and visual ability to detect emergency situations
  • Ability to access and accurately input information using moderately complex computer
  • Excellent telephone etiquette skills
  • Ability to represent the company professionally
  • Attend catering and departmental meetings as necessary

  • Flexibility to work varying schedules
  • Ability to handle guest and employee concerns positively
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of Marriott systems including CI/TY preferred
  • High degree of accuracy and detail orientation
  • Excellent telephone etiquette
  • Professional and courteous demeanor

Job Duties

  • Update and manage CI/TY with event information and customer communication
  • Communicate with clients to ensure details for events are accurate and complete on a timely basis
  • Resolve problems such as price conflicts, menu description, banquet facilities, guarantees and seating charts
  • Attend meetings including EO, pre-convention, staff and departmental
  • Assist in the supervision and training of staff, strategic planning, and other departmental activities
  • Organize files and paperwork to ensure proper communication and historical reference
  • Act as liaison between Sales Manager(s) and clients in Sales Managers absence
  • Ensure guest satisfaction by timely follow up correspondence
