Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Knowledge of food, beverage, audiovisual, room setups and menu planning
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Good problem-solving and listening skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules
  • Ability to effectively handle guest and employee concerns
  • Proficient in English
  • Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout work
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of Marriott systems including CI/TY preferred
  • High degree of accuracy and detail orientation
  • Respond to requests for information promptly
  • Conduct hotel tours
  • Hearing and visual ability for emergencies
  • Ability to use computer systems
  • Excellent telephone etiquette
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Attend catering and departmental meetings

Job Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree preferred
  • 4 years experience in event management with leadership emphasis preferred
  • Knowledge of food, beverage, audiovisual, room sets, and menu planning
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Good listening skills and problem-solving ability
  • Basic mathematical skills for calculations
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules
  • Ability to handle guest and employee concerns professionally
  • Proficient in English language communication

Job Duties

  • Updates and manages CI/TY with event information and customer communication
  • Details, organizes, and distributes event orders and other essential communications necessary in event management
  • Communicates with clients to ensure event details are accurate and complete
  • Exercises decision-making skills to ensure customer satisfaction and hotel profitability
  • Resolves problems such as price conflicts, menu descriptions, banquet facilities, guarantees, and seating charts
  • Attends meetings including EO, pre-convention, staff, and departmental meetings
  • Assists in the supervision and training of staff, strategic planning, and other departmental activities
