Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 6 years experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related professional area
  • OR bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major
  • 3 years experience in event management or related professional area

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with Sales and Catering systems
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects
  • Knowledge of customer service standards

Job Duties

  • Manage and coordinate Convention Services activities associated with planning, supervising and executing events for complex and high-touch convention and event groups
  • Communicate all group specifications and history to operational departments and ensure implementation to guidelines
  • Partner with senior leadership to implement process improvements to increase client satisfaction and operational efficiency
  • Accurately forecast group revenues according to guidelines
  • Promote proper use of function, exhibit hall and overall event space
  • Maximize group revenue by referring available goods, services, attractions, and sub-contractors to convention groups
  • Assist with training and development initiatives for the Convention Services staff
  • Oversee contracted group room blocks including cutoffs and attrition
  • Plan and develop convention programs, resumes, agendas, and services using Sales and Catering system
  • Create external communications including contract addendums and introductory letters
  • Host planning meetings, site inspections, and pre-convention meetings
  • Promote client satisfaction through smooth execution of assigned conventions as measured by surveys
  • Communicate catering event details to operating departments and customers
  • Manage customer service and employee satisfaction quality processes
  • Provide coaching and counseling to employees
  • Direct development, training, and mentoring of employees
  • Impose deadlines and delegate tasks appropriately
  • Motivate employees and maintain productive work environment
  • Address employee needs and manage interpersonal conflicts
  • Develop and manage hourly employees
  • Adhere to EEO and AA policies
