Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 years experience in event management or related professional area, or 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major

  • Or associate degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or related major with no work experience required
  • Proven experience managing complex events
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to manage budgets and maximize revenue
  • Proficiency in coordinating multiple tasks and teams
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service and handle guest issues professionally

Job Duties

  • Prepare all event documentation and coordinate with sales, property departments and customers to ensure consistent, high level service
  • Handle complex events and ensure seamless turnover from sales to service
  • Recognize opportunities to maximize revenue by up-selling and offering enhancements
  • Support and act on behalf of the Director of Event Management or Director of Event Planning and Operations in their absence
  • Serve as the event planner's primary contact on property during event phases and manage customer experiences from file turnover through post-event
  • Lead pre-event and post-event meetings
  • Identify operational challenges and collaborate with staff and customers to resolve issues
  • Manage customer budgets, room blocks, and meeting spaces
  • Adhere to all standards, policies, and procedures
  • Up-sell products and services during the event process
  • Participate in customer site inspections and assist in sales
  • Act as liaison between field sales personnel and customers throughout the event lifecycle
  • Manage revenue and profitability for events
  • Forecast group sleeping rooms and event revenue
  • Review billing and payments with clients
  • Provide exceptional customer service by interacting with guests, handling complaints, and following up post-event
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with internal and external customers regarding event details
