Job Requirements

  • Minimum 6 months experience in custodial cleaning or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Ability to read and understand written or verbal instructions in English
  • Ability to prioritize work orders and emergency requests
  • Knowledge of safe use of custodial equipment and cleaning materials
  • Ability to work in inclement weather and challenging environments
  • Ability to safely use ladders up to eighteen feet
  • Physically capable of lifting and moving materials up to 50 pounds
  • Hold valid driver’s license and comply with driving record policies
  • Knowledge of biohazard cleanup and Material Safety Data Sheets
  • Basic understanding of procedures with asbestos, lead paint, and mold
  • Willingness to work overtime as required
  • Current work authorization for employment with UC Riverside

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 6 months experience in custodial cleaning or equivalent training
  • Ability to read and understand written and verbal English instructions
  • Basic computer skills including email and Outlook calendar
  • Knowledge of safe cleaning practices and use of cleaning equipment
  • Ability to follow safety protocols for biohazard cleanup and hazardous materials
  • Strong physical ability to perform labor-intensive tasks
  • Valid driver’s license with compliant driving record

Job Duties

  • Clean windows, mirrors, floors, walls, ceilings, furniture, carpets, appliances, drinking fountains and fixtures
  • Clean kitchen areas, dining rooms, offices, resident rooms, classrooms, bathrooms and showers
  • Sanitize food production areas, kitchen equipment, counters, exhaust filters and hoods
  • Prepare rooms for summer conferences and special events including moving furniture and linen changes
  • Perform setup duties and restoration of areas for catered and conference events
  • Clean and sanitize the Child Development Center to state-mandated standards
  • Handle biohazard cleanup including blood, vomit, rodent droppings and raw sewage
  • Sweep, dust, mop, vacuum, buff floors using various equipment
  • Maintain exteriors using high-pressure washers and riding sidewalk scrubbers
  • Assist with pool maintenance, including cleaning and water treatment
