Job Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or vocational school or possession of an approved high school equivalent certificate
  • Two years experience as a cook in large quantity food preparation in institutional settings
  • Served Safe certified
  • Valid Food Handler Certificate
  • Possession of a valid New Jersey driver’s license if driving is necessary to perform essential duties

Job Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or vocational school or possession of an approved high school equivalent certificate
  • Two years experience as a cook involving the preparation and cooking of a variety of food in large quantities in a club, restaurant, hospital or other institute
  • Served Safe certified
  • Valid Food Handler Certificate
  • Ability to prepare and cook a wide range of foods
  • Ability to supervise and assign work to food service workers
  • Ability to keep essential records
  • Ability to learn computerized and manual recording systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English or alternative communication methods such as American Sign Language or Braille

Job Duties

  • Exercise leadership over assigned cooks and food service personnel
  • Prepare and cook food in large quantities
  • Assist in planning and constructing menus
  • Requisition supplies, equipment, and utensils for the kitchen
  • Prepare soups, meats, vegetables, salads, and other foods
  • Bake bread and/or pastries
  • Maintain essential records and files
