Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years food service or large quantity cooking experience in healthcare or hotel setting
- Required food handlers permit from accredited issuer
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Ability to demonstrate necessary skills and competencies
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment and sanitation
- Ability to handle volume cooking and buffet reception setups
- Ability to adapt to work environment changes
- Capable of sound judgment
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Two years of food service or large quantity cooking experience in healthcare or hotel setting
- Food Handlers Permit as required by Texas Department of State Health Services or equivalent
- ServSafe certification preferred
- Proficiency in English speaking, reading, and writing
- Strong communication skills with patients, family, and coworkers
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment and sanitation principles
- Understanding of buffet receptions, plated menu items, and volume batch cooking
- Familiarity with fundamental cooking techniques such as braising and searing
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and adapt to changing environments
Job Duties
- Interact professionally with patients, family, and staff
- Notify management of menu changes due to unforeseen events
- Contribute to employee engagement and peer accountability
- Prepare and cook food for patients, cafeteria, catering, and staff lounges
- Maintain food quality, temperature, and presentation
- Coordinate with production and food service teams for meal preparation and delivery
- Assist in ordering and receiving food deliveries
- Transport food carts to prep areas
- Participate in daily production meetings focusing on customer service
- Follow HACCP guidelines for food storage, handling, and temperature control
- Prepare food according to dietary restrictions and standardized recipes
- Maintain proper sanitation and cleanliness of work areas and equipment
- Inspect food quality and discard expired items
- Control food costs and minimize waste
- Recommend and help develop new menu items
- Identify self-development needs and complete development plans
