Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education preferred
  • Two years of food service or large quantity cooking experience in healthcare or hotel setting
  • Food Handlers Permit accredited by Texas Department of State Health Services or ANSI required
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently
  • Demonstrate skills and competencies necessary to safely perform assigned job
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, family, and coworkers
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environment
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment, food service sanitation, buffet receptions, and cooking techniques
  • Ability to follow HACCP guidelines including food storage, temperature control, and documentation

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Two years of food service or large quantity cooking experience in healthcare or hotel setting
  • Food Handlers Permit accredited by Texas Department of State Health Services or ANSI
  • ServSafe certification preferred
  • Demonstrated cooking skills and competency assessments
  • Proficient in English communication
  • Strong knowledge of kitchen equipment and sanitation principles
  • Understanding of buffet receptions and plated menu items
  • Fundamental cooking techniques such as braising and searing

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook entrees, side dishes, and specialty products using standardized recipes
  • Prepare specialty dishes for catered events including physician dinners and employee ceremonies
  • Maintain production to support patients, cafeteria, catering, and doctor’s lounge needs
  • Adhere to Food and Nutrition Services standards and local food safety regulations
  • Review and maintain production records and cooling charts per HACCP guidelines
  • Assist in other food service areas as needed
  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and staff to ensure customer service focus
