Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Two or more years of production cooking experience
- Knowledge of institutional food production
- Ability to adjust recipes and prepare modified diets
- Skills in hot food production and commercial kitchen equipment use
- Ability to learn and follow policies and procedures
- Effective communication and math skills
- Ability to obtain food handler certification within 30 days of hire
- Ability to perform tasks under time constraints
- Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals
- Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card for Banner Behavioral Health Hospital employees
- Sign Arizona Criminal History Affidavit at hire
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent working knowledge
- Two or more years of experience in production cooking in a high-volume setting
- Solid understanding of cooking principles and modified recipes for special diets
- Skills in hot food production and use of commercial kitchen equipment
- Ability to read and follow policies, procedures, and instructions
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to perform math calculations for recipe weights and food amounts
- Knowledge of food handling regulations and ability to obtain certification
- Ability to manage tasks within limited time frames
- Experience with cleaning schedules and safe chemical use
- Additional related education and experience preferred
Job Duties
- Prepare all food items according to standardized recipes
- Adjust recipe quantities for correct yields
- Plan food production timing and quantities based on daily orders and menu tallies
- Minimize food waste through effective planning and tracking
- Maintain par levels of food and supplies and restock as needed
- Check and log food and equipment temperatures
- Keep work areas clean and orderly
- Receive and check deliveries from vendors
- Provide leadership and knowledge in cooking and food preparation to kitchen staff
- Communicate with diet tech or dietician for menu substitutions
