Job Requirements
- bachelor's degree or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving analysis or evaluation leading to policy or program improvement
- thorough knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to administrative specialties
- ability to work with public and private representatives in sensitive situations
- ability to present ideas effectively and gain consensus
- knowledge of survey and research methods
- ability to work weekends, holidays, or evenings occasionally
- physical ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform occasional physical tasks such as room and equipment setup
- ability to carry a mobile phone and answer calls during work hours
- successful completion of background check
- eligibility to work in the United States within three business days from hire
- mandated reporter status under California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act
- adherence to CSU Executive Orders regarding reporting and conflict of interest compliance
Job Qualifications
- bachelor's degree or equivalent training and administrative work experience
- general knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods
- expertise in administrative survey techniques, operations and systems analysis, and statistical research methods
- ability to develop strategic solutions and understand complex problems
- consultative skills working with internal and external groups
- effective written and presentation communication skills
- advanced knowledge of public and business administration
- expertise in operational and fiscal management
- experience in conference and event services including contract negotiations, catering, logistics, and execution preferred
- supervisory experience
- proficiency with event management software such as EMS
- experience working with diverse populations
- customer service experience in hospitality environment
- strong troubleshooting skills in fast-paced settings
- proficiency in Microsoft Office
Job Duties
- provide operational leadership and direction for daily program operations in accordance with university and governmental regulations
- collaborate with campus stakeholders to enforce and update client security and safety policies
- ensure business activities align with the university mission
- participate in professional organizations to stay current on conference and event planning trends
- collaborate with ITS to update databases used in conference and event services
- ensure contracted event details are delivered including staffing, furniture setups, logistics, signage, and services
- inspect and maintain high standards of customer service consistently
- utilize creative marketing strategies including rebranding and web presence improvements to maximize space usage and revenue
- attract and develop relationships with potential and existing clients to encourage repeat business
- develop program proposals with revenue and cost analysis
- research and evaluate operations to enhance service and implement improvements
- supervise and train administrative, seasonal, and student staff
- develop training programs for temporary summer workforce
- collaborate with dining services to develop event showcases
- create campus-wide conference and event planning training
- perform other duties as assigned
