Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in catering or related culinary field
- CRT-accredited Food Protection Manager certification
- Ability to obtain CFP - ANSI National Accreditation Board certification within 90 days of employment
- Strong leadership skills to act as kitchen lead when necessary
- Experience working in healthcare or corporate catering environments preferred
- Capability to train, mentor, and supervise food preparation staff
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Commitment to uphold food safety, sanitation, and quality standards consistently
- Flexibility to work variable hours between 5 a.m. and 7 p.m. including occasional weekends
- Ability to develop and document menus and recipes
- Familiarity with purchasing and inventory procedures
- Professionalism suitable for executive and high-visibility events
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5 years of relevant experience in related field
- CRT-accredited Food Protection Manager certification
- CFP - ANSI National Accreditation Board certification within 90 days
- Vocational or technical courses in food preparation preferred
- 2 years of relevant experience in food preparation in a health care facility preferred
- 1 year of relevant supervisory experience preferred
Job Duties
- Assist with all aspects of kitchen operations, food preparation, and service for high-profile events
- Act as the kitchen lead in the absence of the Cook Lead, overseeing staff and daily operations
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and quality standards
- Coordinate with event teams to ensure smooth service and presentation
- Assist in training and mentoring team members, fostering a culture of professionalism and excellence
- Communicate effectively with team members, event leads, and management
- Model Corewell Health's mission, vision and values in all interactions
- Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, including safety and confidentiality
- Demonstrate professionalism and attention to detail suitable for executive and community-facing events
- Assume total responsibility for all food production in absence of the Supervisor
- Organize and direct the preparation of complex recipes
- Assist in planning and documenting menus for all areas of the Nutrition Services department
- Ensure daily production schedule is completed and adhered to
- Assist in training, orientation and evaluation of employees
- Prepare purchase order for the buyer, as appropriate
- Develop new recipes
- Assist supervisor in overseeing areas of operations assigned and monitor employees to ensure policies and procedures are being adhered to
- Address employees not following job requirements or proper policy and procedures
