Job Requirements

  • formal 4-year degree or equivalent professional certification
  • over ten years of relevant professional experience

  • knowledge of federal and state wastewater regulatory requirements

Job Duties

  • leads over 600 diverse personnel in the wastewater operations branch
  • promotes and aligns branch practices with Houston Water and Houston Public Works values
  • works with multidisciplinary teams to ensure regulatory compliance including EPA/DOJ Consent Decree
  • oversees operations and maintenance of 38 wastewater treatment plants, 382 lift stations, and over 6,000 miles of collection systems
  • develops, analyzes, and monitors key performance indicators for service and financial objectives
  • builds branch public relations and participates in professional organizations
  • develops and manages annual budget ensuring protection of public assets
  • communicates and builds relationships with staff, executives, elected officials, and community members
  • responds to public and administration needs and directs program initiatives implementation
