Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- four years of experience in aviation, airport operations, airport inspections or airport/airline security
- a current pilot license plus two years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements
- an associate degree in any field plus two years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements
- a bachelor’s degree or higher in any field will meet the education and experience requirements
- valid driver’s license with good driving record
- must pass TSA background check
- availability to work varying shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays
- may be subject to twenty-four/seven emergency call outs
Job Qualifications

- knowledge of airport regulations and general business management
- knowledge of airside movement and traffic, logistics, and coordination
- knowledge of customer service care practices and principles
- knowledge of airport policies, procedures, and detailed terminal layout
- ability to communicate with various individuals from diverse backgrounds
- knowledge of airport, airlines, and resources
- ability to lead, train, and develop other officers supporting airport operations
- ability to use various communications and information management software
- communicating effectively orally and in writing
- establishing and maintaining strong and effective relationships
- ability to handle and communicate emergency situations with professionalism and skill
Job Duties
- Conducts and performs daily inspections of the runway/taxiway environment to ensure compliance with FAA standards regarding pavement, lighting, markings, and signage
- coordinates with the Air Traffic Control Tower
- observes wildlife, responds to bird strikes and recovers/identifies remains, and submits incident reports
- inspects gates, fences, and other security devices for safety
- inspects airport for compliance with FAA regulations pertaining to federal standards and requirements to ensure the operational readiness of the airport
- conducts daily inspections of the airport perimeter fence and gates
- issues, modifies, and rescinds gate access codes and credentials in the access control system
- responds to suspicious persons and coordinates with DPD
- issues trespass warnings when warranted
- assists, supports, and helps airlines with various requests, fuel or lavatory spill calls, custodial spills, and appropriate reporting methods for incidents
- provides direction and information on regulations regarding environmental spills and other issues
- effectively uses communications software and systems to send messages to personnel and handle personnel or patron situations
- keeps, maintains, and tracks records for all communications and incidents
- ensures all situations are documented and reported to ensure proper and safe handling and resolution
- provides senior level account of incident and emergency response measures
- ensures construction activities conform to FAA airfield requirements
- escorts construction personnel to the airfield as needed
- identifies any discrepancies between installed pavement, lighting, signage, etc., and FAA requirements
- monitors accounting and other funds, keeps accurate records, and reports data
- oversees, coordinates, and executes event planning for special events, airshows, outreach events and special meetings
- opens and secures gates and fences
- responds effectively to alerts and emergency situations
- uses communications software to ensure all necessary parties and agencies are notified
- effectively coordinates communications and information sharing to mitigate the effect of a situation on airport operations
- performs any and all other work as needed or assigned
