Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree desired or equivalent practical experience
  • minimum 15 years of experience as a Certified Professional Controller (CPC)
  • experience with complex automation tools, CAD software, or similar applications within the last three years
  • practical experience in air traffic control or airspace design
  • excellent interpersonal skills
  • excellent facilitation and project management skills
  • excellent written and oral communication skills
  • proficiency in industry standard office software including MS Office and Acrobat
  • knowledge of airspace or procedures design
  • analytical skills
  • knowledge of TARGETS software
  • ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work duties
  • willingness to travel up to 30 percent
  • no relocation reimbursement

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Provide support to FAA offices responsible for instrument flight procedure design
  • provide technical assistance related to the optimization of airspace and procedure design in IFP projects
  • operate the Terminal Area Route Generation Evaluation Traffic Simulation (TARGETS) software
  • retrieve and analyze IFP and air traffic data from various sources including IOAA tools and radar data retrieval programs
  • provide expertise to the FAA regarding IFP design risks and alternatives
  • review FAA Orders and Directives related to IFP procedure design
  • comply with all applicable FAA orders, directives, and criteria
  • produce presentation and briefing material related to IFP development
  • supervise graphics specialists and provide technical assistance
  • review own work and the work of others for accuracy and compliance
  • participate on user evaluation teams for IFP related software and tools
  • coordinate with IFP workgroup stakeholders
  • provide TARGETS support for meetings and produce draft meeting documents
  • maintain proficiency using necessary software tools
  • plan, organize, prioritize, and execute own work duties
  • travel up to 30 percent as required
